  1. 1. Who can work with tolingo?

    Please have a look at "Requirements" in order to find out, if you can identify yourself with the criteria expected to successfully cooperate with tolingo.

  2. 2. How do I apply to become a tolingo translator?

    To become a tolingo translator please send an email to apply@tolingo.com. All applicants must submit a detailed CV (in English/German/French/Spanish) as well as copies of their certificates. Please refer to your language combination in the subject.

  3. 3. Which browser can I use?

    Our website is optimized for use with Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Safari. If you do not currently work with one of these browsers, you will need to download one of them from the Internet:

  4. 4. Which certificates should I send?

    In order for us to accept your application you will need to supply your certificates. Please send us the certificates, which are relevant to your application as a translator. This could include a degree in translation, linguistics or other academic field and/or confirmation of your status as a sworn/certified translator. If possible, please submit digital files in PDF format.

  5. 5. What happens after I have sent you my application?

    We will let you know if your application is selected for the next steps. The procedure afterwards will be as followed:

    • We will call you for a short interview to find out more about your abilities, your availability to work with us and we will give you a detailed overview on how the collaboration with tolingo works.
    • You will do a short test translation on which we are able to rate your translation quality. If we are convinced of your translation skills, you will receive a link for the registration.
    • After you have completed your registration we will activate your account and you will be able to accept jobs directly from the website.

    No, your tolingo account is entirely free of charge.

  2. 2. How do I log in?

    You can log into your translator account at http://translators.tolingo.com. You simply need to enter the e-mail and password that you supplied during the registration process.

  3. 3. I have forgotten my password.

    Your password can be reset simply by clicking on “lost” on the login page. You will then need to confirm your new password by following the instructions sent to you via e-mail.

  4. 4. Can I delete my account?

    If you wish to delete your account please contact our Vendor Management team at translators@tolingo.com. We will deactivate your account and delete your personal data.

  1. 1. Do I need to send you an invoice?

    No, one of the advantages of working with tolingo is that you never need to send us an invoice. At the end of each month we automatically generate your monthly invoice for you. This can be downloaded from your account as a PDF file.

  2. 2. What methods of payment are offered?

    You can choose to be paid via PayPal, Moneybookers or by bank transfer. Bank transfers will only be carried out once your total monthly earnings reach at least €10 and - for countries outside the EU - a €7 processing fee will be deducted to cover the internal costs of carrying out these transfers.

  3. 3. When will I be paid?

    Our payments are always carried out punctually on the 15th of the month. Please note that if you have chosen to be paid by bank transfer and your monthly earnings are below €10, your payment will be carried over to the next payment cycle.

  4. 4. Why is there a fee for bank transfers outside the EU?

    In order to cover the costs needed to make these payments on time, we deduct a processing fee for all bank transfers outside the EU.

  5. 5. Is it possible to delay my payment until my account balance is higher?

    Yes, you are able to specify the minimum sum that should be transferred to you. If you enter a minimum payout limit, the transfer will be delayed until your account balance reaches this amount. You can edit your minimum transfer amount at anytime from your payment data page.

  1. 1. How do I accept a translation job at tolingo?

    • All available jobs that match your language combinations and specialist skills will be automatically listed in your tolingo account.
    • On your job board you will be able to preview the text and view the deadline and rate for the job.
    • If you click to accept the job, the translation is immediately assigned to you. You should log in as often as possible to check for new work. Your job board refreshes automatically every 15 seconds.
    • During office hours, we do our best to inform you by email or telephone about new translation or proofreading jobs.

  2. 2. Can I cancel a job after accepting it?

    It is possible to cancel a translation job for up to 15 minutes after accepting it. To cancel a job please use the "cancel translation" button to the left of the screen. If after 15 minutes you wish to cancel your translation job, please contact support@tolingo.com.

  3. 3. What do I do if I have questions about the text?

    If you have any questions about the text that you are translating, please contact our Project Managers at support@tolingo.com. We will do our best to contact the customer and answer your questions as soon as possible.

  4. 4. What happens if I deliver the translation late?

    • If you need additional time for your translation or are unsure about the deadline for the job, please contact the assigned Project Manager immediately.
    • Any adjustments to the deadline must be agreed upon by the Project Manager in advance.
    • If we do not receive the translation by the agreed deadline and are unable to contact you regarding it, we will reassign the job to another translator and/or deduct any resulting costs from your payment.

  5. 5. What happens if there is a complaint about my work?

    If we receive a complaint about the quality of your translation we will contact you to discuss the issue personally. Any additional costs resulting from poor quality translation work may be deducted from your payment. If we have serious concerns about the quality of your work we may decide to disable your translator account permanently.

  6. 6. Are proofreading jobs also available?

    Once you have proven your skills as a translator, we may also offer you proofreading jobs. Proofreading is an important aspect of our quality control measures and we appreciate your cooperation in evaluating the work of other translators.

    tolingo trinity is a browser-based translation editor which allows you to translate texts in an online environment without installing any additional software.

    • If we offer a text to be translated in trinity, you will automatically be forwarded to the translation interface where you can translate the text and make use of trinity's many features.
    • Some of the key functions of tolingo trinity are: repetition recognition, terminology management, live preview, real-time quality check, auto-translate, integrated dictionary, comment, copy source to target.

    No, tolingo trinity is completely free of charge.

    Once you are a registered tolingo translator, you will be able to edit your personal, contact and payment details. For quality control reasons, it is not possible for translators to change their language skills or subject categories after the application has been processed. For that matter please write an E-Mail to translators@tolingo.com

    If you still need to activate your account, but have not received an activation link, please click on "lost" on the login page and enter your email address to request a new activation link. You should also check your spam/junk folder to make sure that our email has not landed there. For further support, you can contact us at translators@tolingo.com
